Jeff and Julia’s Nantucket Yacht Club wedding is currently featured in WellWed Cape & Islands Magazine!

We loved working with their sweet family and are thrilled to share it with you! Their garden-style wedding was held at the Nantucket Yacht Club overlooking the harbor and their reception, in the ballroom, glowed with candlelight that flickered throughout the room off the silver linens from Placesetters, Inc. and the mirrored vases full of lush blooms. Soirée Floral designed the florals for their big day with a palette in shades of whites and peach with a hint of green and pink. A pop of blue was threaded throughout their wedding with the soft shade of the girl’s bridesmaids dresses, on their menus and their table numbers, custom made by the design team at Soirée Floral.

Below is the feature from the magazine and a few of our favorite shots from their wedding. You can pick up a copy of the magazine at your local newsstand or order it online here.

If you haven’t been reading Matchbook’s monthly online magazine – here’s an excuse to start getting them delivered to your inbox! Based in New York City, Matchbook Magazine is “a field guide to a charmed life,” and they keep their word. Matchbook is all about inspiring women – in business and in life. A big part of what they do is feature successful women in business, from fashion to home design to stationery – like this month’s cover story, Kacy Lubell the creator and designer of Letters Lubell!

Aside from the cover stories, our favorite monthly features include their “10 Things You Didn’t Know” which gives you an inside look at some of the most iconic people and celebrities of our time, the “Just Married” section (of course!), and their team’s style boards. This month we can’t help but dream of Nantucket beach days wearing pieces from Katie Armour’s (Co-Founder of Matchbook) Bohemian Rhapsody board.

In their April issue, online now, our sweet bride and groom are featured in the “Just Married” section! Their intimate wedding took place dockside at the White Elephant Hotel this past May. Soirée Floral designed their florals for the day, drawing from soft seaside colors with pops of purple to complete their look.

We’re so honored to be featured in one of our favorite online magazines – we hope we’ve added Matchbook to your list of favorites, too!

We’re kicking off the month of March with a lovely feature from Maine. magazine! Every February they release their “Wedding Issue” and we’re so grateful to see our work showcased on it’s pages again this year!

Our Real Wedding feature is from J and Suzi’s Kennebunkport wedding from last summer (see our blog post on their wedding here) – the navy and white color palette with small touches of red were perfect for their coastal Kennebunkport, Maine reception. We loved her sparkly Jimmy Choos and the preppy and fun striped straws at cocktail hour but having their celebration at her families long time summer home made if feel so personal. What a wonderful way to celebrate with family and friends!

We worked alongside some amazing Maine/New Hampshire wedding vendors, too!

We’re excited to be back again today to share some more press from WellWed Magazine!

On stands now, the second issue of Maine + New Hampshire features a few of our wonderful couples and a sweet little inspiration shoot!

We spy shots from the Maine apple orchard wedding of Belinda and Jeff  and the coastal Maine clambake wedding of Kelly and Luke! Not to be missed is the colorful real wedding feature from Emily and Jeff’s Cape Elizabeth, Maine wedding. Bold colors and personal touches made their wedding so special. Visit all their full blog posts to read more about their Maine Weddings and get inspired for your own day.

If you crave that campy fireside feel be sure to check out the inspiration shoot we photographed at Hidden Pond in Kennebunk, Maine. Audrey from Azalea Events and Michelle from Blooms Flowers Shoppe created one of the coziest tables I have ever seen! With elements of faux fur and leather you just want to nestle in for a seasonal meal and enjoy the warmth of the lush table!

Now get out there and pick up a copy! And if you missed it, here’s our post from last week about the gown shoot we had the pleasure of photographing for this issue.

Enjoy!

We were thrilled this past August when the WellWed team came to Maine for a series of shoots for the second issue of WellWed Maine & New Hampshire!

It’s always inspiring to collaborate with their team of vendors and see ideas come to life while we’re in the moment; it’s even better to see them in print! Working with their super-creative team almost never feels like work! This fun group arrived in our neck of the woods ready to design and style with lots of color and texture. Some of our favorite details included the textured dresses and bold colors!

This is our third gown shoot with WellWed (take a look back at shoot one and two) and this time around we got to work along side a fantastic local hair and makeup team –  Lena Hartford of Hair That Moves and Kimberly Savage, Makeup Artist. The models looked stunning and the gowns and accessories were to-die-for. We always love being a part of these shoots and can’t wait to see what this year has to bring.

Be sure to pick up a copy of the issue on stands now – here’s a little sneak peek from our “Blackwatch + Blueberry” shoot jam-packed with gorgeous cobalt hues, pops of green and a mix of plaid and stripes and our “Lobster + Lemon” shoot full of vibrancy and contrast! We loved the mix of the bright sunny yellow and classic red together with a slight nautical twist to it – so refreshing!

Enjoy!

We love an excuse to travel and see new places. So, when WellWed Magazine asked us if we wanted to come to their Vermont headquarters this past fall to shoot for their next issue, we couldn’t pack our bags fast enough. Not only was it the most picturesque time of the year to be driving to Vermont but was also unseasonably warm. We arrived at their AMAZING mill building offices to see models and dresses and props from all of our favorite shoots… and shoots to come! We also got the treat of actually meeting the wonderful people behind the names and voices we e-mail and chat with! We had no idea going into the day what the outcome would be but we knew it was going to be amazing!

Fast forward till now and here it is! The very first issue of WellWed Maine + New Hampshire! It’s on stands now, with a cover shot we snapped during our apple orchard shoot!! We worked with the WellWed team to shoot a fall story while fellow photographer Barrie Fisher was working on shooting the winter story. She was kind enough to photograph Heidi and I in action so now you can see how this shot came together. A little odd to see what we look like while shooting but still fun! I always love the behind the scenes shots! thanks so much for these Barrie!

Hiring us as your wedding photographer is a big decision. We think it’s so important that you feel comfortable with the wedding photographer you choose to capture these intimate life moments! With work, travel, school and just life in general getting in the way of all of our couples meeting up in person I asked my dear friend and talented colleague Meg Simone to put together a film that would share a bit about our style for those interested in learning more about our work! It’s short and sweet and shows off all the amazing parts of New England that we LOVE to photograph.

Wow. No really… WOW!!!! I have been trying to wrap my head around all of this and just can’t seem to get use to it. Every time I glance over at our office magazine cubby I get a smile on my face… I got the cover of Wellwed! MY work is gracing this amazing publications cover. I took that photo. I took that photo!!!!!!

Having your work on the cover of a well know magazine is a major milestone in a photographers career and I feel so honored to have my work chosen. But it gets better… ya, it’s possible! Wellwed publishes a handful of great regional magazines catered to each specific location. Wellwed Cape & Islands, Wellwed  Hamptons and Wellwed New York ALL have my work on the cover!!!!! (see below)  Three very different looks but all so stunning and spot on with their styling.

So, I’m going to back up for just a quick minute to share just how aaallllll this happened. Krista is the uber creative editor and the leader of all the styled goodness you see on the pages of these magazines. She was working on putting together the boho chic surfer styled fashion segment in the current issue and needed a stunning beach location to make it all come together. SO, the decided to come to York, Maine and she asked me to shoot it. ME?!! Great! Amazing! BEYOND thrilled to work with this crazy talented editorial team… what a GREAT opportunity!  You have to understand that I am a major magazine lover. I read all sorts of magazines ranging in topics from style, food, decor, wedding and of course gossip! I have soooo many subscriptions and my friends even tease me about how I never read books … just all my magazines (so bad I know). I have always loved flipping through the pages, studying the photography and ripping out what inspires me. So, for me, to be asked to work directly with the editorial team of one of my favorite publications was, to say the least, a big deal!

These are not the sort of shoots that come together overnight and are whipped up by a couple of people. The Wellwed team was all there with Krista leading the styling for not only the “bride” but the set ups you see on the covers. I was amazed by her eye for detail and how she really understood how the right light could completely make the shot. A dream for me, seeing I am all about amazing natural light! We had our fun hair and make-up team, Cynthea and Justine, the floral guru Linda from Dandeneau, KILLER dresses from BHLDN, Claire Pettibone, j.crew and Cymbeline Paris. Meg Simone filmed the behind the scenes action in a great short film that shares a bit of the behind the scenes action. It also shows you all the faces and some styling insight so don’t forget to press play at the end of the blog post.

I am always interested in seeing how things come together for the big fashion spreads in all the magazines. (Have you ever watched the documentary “September Issue”?) Let me tell you, it’s a loooooong process! We started at sunrise, 6:20am and didn’t wrap the shoot until the sun went down. Non-stop styling madness all day long! It takes hair, make-up, dress, accessories… so much to make the look sing and we never know what will actually make it to print in the end!!! I really have to say a big, BIG thank you to Krista for trusting me with her vision and allowing me to be my creative self while working on this shoot. I am over the moon with the final spread in the magazine and have I mentioned, honored to be on the cover!

You can visit the Wellwed Website to order a copy if you can’t find one in your local area. And all you Maine and New Hampshire couples get ready! Wellwed is launching a new issue focused on our beautiful corner of New England. YAY!
