You want your portraits to be fun

You want your portraits to be stress free and you want to look your best… this is the recipe for great photos, photos you want to display in your home! I love working with families to capture a combination of both traditional and lifestyle portraits.

We start with the entire group gathered with a traditional approach and then we work our way into more relaxed and playful portraits. Beach sessions are my specialty but I’m always open to location ideas or coming to your home. Sessions take place in the golden light of the early evening, so the beaches are empty and the light is soft and most important, flattering.

“Brea has been taking our family portraits for the past 10 years. She makes the sessions so easy and makes us all feel incredibly comfortable. Even if the kiddos are not as cooperative, she seems to be able to capture something special in all of us!”

– Jaime

“Kind, creative, patient, and professional, we can’t recommend her services enough!

For years my family and I avoided having family portraits taken. We were never sure if the photographer would be patient enough or if the quality of the photos would be something we loved. After having portraits taken with Brea, we will never hesitate again! We love our photos so much – she has provided us with so many memories to treasure.

Oh the weather! I wish I could control it, but instead I become an amateur weather tracker. If the winds are super high or it’s raining I will do my best to reschedule your session. This is why I like to schedule you early on in your availability so we have a few days to play with.
I always suggest a bit of color, especially for beach sessions. You don’t want to blend into the sand! Soft tones that work well with the green of the sea grass, the blue of the water and color of the sand are always ideal. Try to coordinate rather than match. Having everyone in the same exact color doesn’t translate well in group photos so don’t be shy to mix it up! Visit the portrait gallery to get ideas and when we talk in our pre-portrait conversation I will send you a link to a pinterest page with lots of inspiration.
The summer sun is strong and the days are long. I want you to look your best and in order to do that we need to take advantage of the soft glowing light that comes before sunset. It eliminates all of those unflattering harsh shadows and squinting. Plus, having the beach clear of sunbathers helps for a stunning background!
Your online gallery will be ready to view in roughly 2-3 weeks after your portrait session. This depends on the time of year and the type of session you have.
Don’t stress! I totally understand and know that the key to a great session is getting the kids on board. When you arrive I will spend the first few minutes talking with them, connecting with them and setting up how much fun we are going to have. They’re kids so let’s encourage them to be themselves and capture those personalities! The best thing you can do to prep them is to be sure they have a nap if needed, snack or dinner before arrival and just talk about how much fun the portraits will be. And I will take it from there!
