Maine Wedding Photographer: Cape Elizabeth

Emily and Jeff were married on a perfect Maine summer day at the charming Old Baptist Meeting House in Yarmouth, Maine. Their reception followed immediately after at what their family fondly calls “The Cottage”. An ocean side summer home that the family has enjoyed for generations. When I first met Emily at The Cottage, weeks before the big day, I instantly fell in LOVE with this special spot! Right on the water and looking out at Portland Headlight the view was spectacular and something I had never experienced before! A rocky beach with a fire pit and adirondack chairs had me itching to stay the afternoon for a swim! I could go on and on about The Cottages welcoming feel or the amazing view but what really made Emily and Jeff’s day amazing was… them. They are the kind of people you want to be around and not just on their wedding day. This was evident with all the family and friends who gathered with them to celebrate their big day.

I asked Emily what her favorite moment was from their wedding day and this is what she had to share: “Like many women, I had been dreaming about my wedding since I was a little girl. Although the details may have changed over the years, I do know that the real thing was better than I ever could have dreamed. Jeff and I had a 6 month engagement and everything sort of felt like it was on “fast forward”. Now that I have had some time to slow down and reflect on the months and days leading up to our wedding, I realize how very special it was. My mom, with the help of some of our amazing family and friends, designed and made all of the tent decoration. I absolutely loved being able to spend this time with my mom leading up to the wedding as we talked through details and worked together late into the night. I also know that I will forever remember the ride to the ceremony with my mom and dad as one of the most special moments of my life so far. However, my favorite part, without a doubt, was Jeff and my “first look” before the ceremony. It was the only quiet time that we were able to spend with one another for the rest of the day and we were able to enjoy being in the moment. At that moment, none of the details mattered and the most important thing was that we were about to get married and start a new, exciting chapter together, surrounded by all of our family and friends.”

Thanks Emily and Jeff for having us there to capture the joy of your big day! I think you are right Em… “the real thing was better” than any little girls dreams!
