This past summer I was able to photograph some pretty amazing events, however the Full Plates Full Potential event at Flanagan’s Farm was surely one for the books! Full Plates Full Potential is an organization working to eradicate child hunger in the state of Maine. Currently 1 in 5 children in Maine alone are food insecure and Full Plates Full Potential is working around the clock to reduce that number to 0. I am always honored to take photos for this important organization here in Maine and this event was no exception.

On May 19th, 2019, Full Plates Full Potential hosted a charity dinner featuring many of greater Portland’s James Beard award winning chefs to kick off their summer season and it was just AMAZING. The action in the kitchen, the delicious food, and all of the great people that came together to donate to such a great cause made for a memorable evening. Here are a few of my favorites from the night.

Full Plates Full Potential is always hosting events and accepting donations! Visit their website here to learn more!

It may be March but it’s still snowing in New England so why not share a fantastic little winter inspiration shoot, complete with a sled and nordic ski details!

Meagan Gilpatrick’s inspiration came from a family heirloom that’s been passed down in her family for generations – a Scandinavian nativity pyramid. Keeping with true Scandinavian elements, Meagan incorporated details that were both modern and traditional.

The use of red was a common thread used throughout but what really tied the whole look together was the mix of patterns. Meagan added touches of straw details – in the centerpieces and at the place settings. There was a slight woodland feel to it as well, with the use of sliced timber used as risers for the votives and the pyramid.

And those cakes! I loved the detail of each and every “leaf” and the squirrel cake toppers were just adorable.

Parrott Design Studio did a fabulous job on the stationery as well – a perfect mix of  causal and elegance. The envelope liner was such a thoughtful detail!

Shot in one of my favorite places (my wedding venue) here are more images from that fun winter day!

Recently, we were given the opportunity to be apart of a very exciting event – the BESWOON Bridal Show.

This event is such a fabulous concept for brides and grooms, giving them the chance to experience three different wedding themes all in the same day, be able to taste food, hear bands and meet with potential wedding professionals to talk about their upcoming wedding! The three themes being featured this year were: Modern Coastal Romance, Rustic Elegance and Gatsby Glamour. The flow of the event began with a cocktail hour which was followed by a fashion show in the grand ballroom of the Westin Harborview hotel in Portland, Maine. The show featured upcoming trends in bridal fashion for both the bride and her party based on the three room themes. Afterwards the couples were able to spend the afternoon visiting each of the rooms.

From beginning to end, being a part of this event was so much fun! We were one of the vendors chosen to work on the Modern Coastal Romance room which featured the talented designs and creations of some of Maine’s finest! It was so nice to meet and get to work with vendors we haven’t had the chance to work with before! I loved listening to the sounds of Wavelength band while chatting with visitors in the room, it felt like I was attending an actual wedding! (In fact, some of our guests even danced!)

The details, as you’ll see, were to die for! From the beautiful entryway to the lighting and the lucite chairs! The guests were greeted with a seating chart and favors as they walked into the room. There was even a ring station featuring Brent & Jess’s fingerprint rings for guests to try on and see for themselves what a unique option this could be for their weddings bands. As you entered the room everything just seemed to glow! This Modern Coastal Romance wedding definitely had a chic flair to it! The orchids and driftwood centerpieces were a perfect mashup of modern and coastal, especially when paired with the lucite table and mixed lucite chairs!

One of my favorite details was the paper by El’s Cards! Her watercolor oyster shells and calligraphy were so beautiful. The lounge area featured some of our studio’s wedding work and it gave guests a chance to consider this as an option for their wedding as well. Having a designated area for guests to relax and visit away from the reception area was so nice and cozy! (It also gave Krista, from WellWed Magazine, and I a chance to catch up and chat!)

It was such a pleasure to get to work alongside these vendors – we hope to be apart of this event again next year! A big thank you goes out to our hair and make-up team from Xana-do, I felt like such a diva kicking the day off by getting all dolled up!

We’re excited to be back again today to share some more press from WellWed Magazine!

On stands now, the second issue of Maine + New Hampshire features a few of our wonderful couples and a sweet little inspiration shoot!

We spy shots from the Maine apple orchard wedding of Belinda and Jeff  and the coastal Maine clambake wedding of Kelly and Luke! Not to be missed is the colorful real wedding feature from Emily and Jeff’s Cape Elizabeth, Maine wedding. Bold colors and personal touches made their wedding so special. Visit all their full blog posts to read more about their Maine Weddings and get inspired for your own day.

If you crave that campy fireside feel be sure to check out the inspiration shoot we photographed at Hidden Pond in Kennebunk, Maine. Audrey from Azalea Events and Michelle from Blooms Flowers Shoppe created one of the coziest tables I have ever seen! With elements of faux fur and leather you just want to nestle in for a seasonal meal and enjoy the warmth of the lush table!

Now get out there and pick up a copy! And if you missed it, here’s our post from last week about the gown shoot we had the pleasure of photographing for this issue.

We were thrilled this past August when the WellWed team came to Maine for a series of shoots for the second issue of WellWed Maine & New Hampshire!

It’s always inspiring to collaborate with their team of vendors and see ideas come to life while we’re in the moment; it’s even better to see them in print! Working with their super-creative team almost never feels like work! This fun group arrived in our neck of the woods ready to design and style with lots of color and texture. Some of our favorite details included the textured dresses and bold colors!

This is our third gown shoot with WellWed (take a look back at shoot one and two) and this time around we got to work along side a fantastic local hair and makeup team –  Lena Hartford of Hair That Moves and Kimberly Savage, Makeup Artist. The models looked stunning and the gowns and accessories were to-die-for. We always love being a part of these shoots and can’t wait to see what this year has to bring.

Be sure to pick up a copy of the issue on stands now – here’s a little sneak peek from our “Blackwatch + Blueberry” shoot jam-packed with gorgeous cobalt hues, pops of green and a mix of plaid and stripes and our “Lobster + Lemon” shoot full of vibrancy and contrast! We loved the mix of the bright sunny yellow and classic red together with a slight nautical twist to it – so refreshing!

Dan and Lauren chose to have their rustic eco wedding at Camp Laughing Loon on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. It was a beautiful lakeside wedding with friends and families who gathered from all the over the states. Being eco-conscious, the bride handmade the boutineers and bouquets using dried flowers. Lauren also made repurposed centerpieces and decorations that complimented the rustic environment of Camp Laughing Loon.

We love an excuse to travel and see new places. So, when WellWed Magazine asked us if we wanted to come to their Vermont headquarters this past fall to shoot for their next issue, we couldn’t pack our bags fast enough. Not only was it the most picturesque time of the year to be driving to Vermont but was also unseasonably warm. We arrived at their AMAZING mill building offices to see models and dresses and props from all of our favorite shoots… and shoots to come! We also got the treat of actually meeting the wonderful people behind the names and voices we e-mail and chat with! We had no idea going into the day what the outcome would be but we knew it was going to be amazing!

Fast forward till now and here it is! The very first issue of WellWed Maine + New Hampshire! It’s on stands now, with a cover shot we snapped during our apple orchard shoot!! We worked with the WellWed team to shoot a fall story while fellow photographer Barrie Fisher was working on shooting the winter story. She was kind enough to photograph Heidi and I in action so now you can see how this shot came together. A little odd to see what we look like while shooting but still fun! I always love the behind the scenes shots! thanks so much for these Barrie!

Warmer days are ahead. So hard to imagine on these snow filled March days but photos like this remind us of what we have to look forward to. Pretty flowers, ocean breezes and summer celebrations. It’s all ahead!
