I never tire of weddings by the sea and Sarah and Ryan’s Prout’s Neck, Maine wedding is a perfect example of why. Their ceremony was held at the adorable St. James Church, one of the most charming chapels! It’s cozy shingled interior and exposed beams feels much like the interior of a ship and was the very church Sarah’s grandparents were married in 1950! Sarah carried with her a family prayer book that three generations of women in her family have also carried for their wedding day. Personal touches are what make each celebration so special. I love learning about each family and couples connections to the place they choose to celebrate and how they want to share that with their guests. For me, this is an important aspect of my job. I can’t say it enough. I love capturing these stories, in these places so the next generation can see it all again.
Prouts Neck is one of those quintessential, timeless coastal Maine communities that you just fall in love with! And it was the PERFECT setting for Laura and Carl’s wedding weekend. From the shingled chapel, the navy blazers, custom lobster monogram and Laura’s heirloom veil their wedding day was straight out of New England look book! They were stunning! And those smiles! You just couldn’t help but smile when you were around them. Their excitement, energy and love for each other was so present it was contagious. Laura and Carl we are coming up on your one year anniversary (how is that possible!) and we wish you many more picture perfect days in the years to come! Cheers!
Following up our post from last week on Catherine and Brian’s wedding weekend events we wanted to bring you their gorgeous wedding day! No couple ever dreams of a rainy day for their nuptials but there is something so cozy and romantic about snuggling in together under an umbrella! We started the day with the ladies getting ready at Catherine’s family home on Prouts Neck. They guys prepared right down the road and made their way to the house for the couples’ first look on the staircase in front of family and friends. Such a fun moment for all!
Their intimate ceremony was held in the charming St. James Church right on Prouts Neck. Guests then made their way to the golf club for a cocktail hour filled with hugs and delicious appetizers prepared by Dandelion Catering. Capturing the toasts from their family and wedding party was a highlight for us. Laughter, tears and more laughter is always a great moment for candid photos. The tent was filled with love for these two, you could not only hear it in the toasts but you could feel it as well. Catherine and Brian we wish you years filled with this kind of love and laughter surrounding you! Cheers!
What a dreamy day! Sunshine and ocean breezes for Marissa and Michael’s Kennebunkport, Maine wedding were just what you hope for when planning a tented wedding on the water!
The energy and excitement of this day was felt by all who were in attendance. You can’t help but smile when you are around these two and I am pretty sure there wasn’t a dry eye in the chapel when Marissa walked down the aisle to her soon to be husband. His face said it all! This was a true celebration filled with lots of hugs, laughter, amazing toasts and lots and lots of dancing! Cheers to you Marissa and Michael and may all the days ahead bring you this much joy!
In the Fall of 2014 Jill and Donal’s Fall wedding at the Barn at Flanagan’s Farm was the perfect way to wrap up our wedding season. A gorgeous sunset ceremony, hot cider and cozy blankets, perfectly thought out details, and a curtain of sparkling twinkle lights were just a few of our favorite things about their celebration. We were so excited to have this wedding featured on The Knot’s website giving us a great excuse to take a look back at this amazing day working with a great team and to celebrate a lovely couple.
First looks are a personal favorite of mine to photograph but when Libby and Brandon said they wanted to see each other before their Prout’s Neck wedding ceremony out on Canon Rock I was instantly trying to figure out how that was all going to come together! Libby has spent her life running the pathway to the rocks and knew the perfect spot… even hopping down a little rock stairway of sorts to get out there. She was so excited to see Brandon when he emerged from the path to see her out on those rocks! Reaching her arms out in the air as he made the leap over to her. Their energy and excitement even stopped a tour group in their tracks as they were meandering along the pathway! Their first look encapsulates the feeling that surrounded their entire wedding day. So much excitement, happiness and fun! Another beautiful weekend with family and friends on Prout’s but one that I am sure they will never forget the feeling of.
A boat get away post ceremony, an antler chandelier hung in the Sperry Tent, Moscow Mule’s served in a copper mug, the ceremony rain plan and a dog named Bunny. Just a few of my favorite things from Kristin and Andrew’s Kennebunkport, Maine wedding!
But honestly it was the people that made this day what it was. (and a well seasoned catering and event planning staff to initiate the rain plan!) From Kristin’s Mom trying to “lock it down” when getting teary eyed watching her daughter placing her veil on to the fun filled dance Andrew shared with his mom there was nothing but excitement and happiness around every corner.
We couldn’t be happier for you Kristin and Andrew and hope we see you at the mountain this winter!
Bald Peak Colony Club in Moultonborough, New Hampshire was the setting for this stunning lake side wedding. Having spent years growing up on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee Megan knew this was where she wanted to celebrate with family and friends. After photographing there for two days with their families I can see why! Their rehearsal dinner took place at Megan’s family home on the back patio overlooking the lake and the ceremony took place in a glade of trees on the same property. Guests were treated to an amazing dinner at the clubhouse, with touching toasts, lots of dancing and a surprise fireworks show! Megan and Ben we wish you both many more special celebrations on the lake in the years ahead! Cheers to you both!
We’re kicking off the month of March with a lovely feature from Maine. magazine! Every February they release their “Wedding Issue” and we’re so grateful to see our work showcased on it’s pages again this year!
Our Real Wedding feature is from J and Suzi’s Kennebunkport wedding from last summer (see our blog post on their wedding here) – the navy and white color palette with small touches of red were perfect for their coastal Kennebunkport, Maine reception. We loved her sparkly Jimmy Choos and the preppy and fun striped straws at cocktail hour but having their celebration at her families long time summer home made if feel so personal. What a wonderful way to celebrate with family and friends!
We worked alongside some amazing Maine/New Hampshire wedding vendors, too!
The issue is still on stands – so make sure you grab yourself a copy before they’re gone!
The setting for Kristen and Andy’s wedding at the Fairborne house in Cape Neddick, Maine couldn’t have been more perfect for their coastal inspired wedding. With gorgeous flowers by Blooms Flower Shoppe , event design by Daisies & Pearls, and a lobster dinner by Foster’s Clambake, they certainly captured the the essence of Maine that they love so much.
