Last fall I traveled North to a part of Maine I rarely get the chance to visit for an editorial bridal gown shoot at the New England Outdoor Center. It was breathtaking! Upon arrival I toured the property with their staff walking the trails to cozy cabins in the woods, scenic outlooks and jaw dropping mountain views. There really couldn’t be anything better for a photoshoot!
I spent the night in their lake front cabin chatting with our talented team and reviewing the looks and styling ideas for the following day’s full schedule of shooting. I love working with a creative team to bring an idea to life! Hair, Make-up, the dresses, jewelry, flowers and cake were all thoughtfully selected in the weeks leading up to the shoot and it was time to put it all together in this beautiful place!
I am so thrilled to see one of my shots on the cover of the current issue of Real Maine Weddings! You can snag a copy right now to see their full feature of the shoot. It truly does take a team to bring this all to life so I thought it would be fun to share a few behind the scenes along with some of our favorite shots from the day!
Fall is my favorite time of year on Nantucket. The island settles down from the busy Summer rush of visitors but the weather is still so beautiful! The island breeze turns crisp and it’s perfect for cozy snuggling, walking hand in hand and for a veil on your wedding day! Susanna and Morgan incorporated so many amazing details into their wedding that just echoed that classic Nantucket vibe. My favorite being their island classic, Jeep Wagoneer for a getaway car. The island is chock full of well loved Jeeps and I am sure this one has plenty of stories to share! It’s wedding touches like this that are so personal and tell me so much about the couple. Susanna and Morgan we had an amazing time photographing your island wedding and hope you always appreciate those simple little details just like you did on your wedding day. Oh! And Susanna, I think your wedding ceremony entrance will go down in the books for the most breathtaking. Seriously breathtaking.
Who says you can’t have a beautiful, cozy, seaside wedding in November?! Ashley and Jim sure did! There may have been a chill in the air, but with all of the love surrounding Ashley and Jim from the amazing company they keep you couldn’t help but feel warm and fuzzy inside. Seeing as the couple are owners of a restaurant on the Cape, it was no surprise that they knew how to throw a party! The night was filled with laughter, kind words from family and friends, and dancing of course! Congratulations to Ashley and Jim and may they celebrate many years of happiness together filled with good food, good drink, and good company. Cheers to you both!
If you could place an order for your perfect wedding day weather you would be ordering up what Molly and Travis had for their Nantucket wedding. Blue bird skies with a soft ocean breeze (perfect for Molly’s veil!) it was just spectacular! But if you know these two then you would want nothing short of spectacular for them on their big day. The energy, excitement and love that filled the room when these two entered was something special.
Molly and Travis left some time after their ceremony to visit some of the islands most picturesque location. We loved visiting Main Street, Cobble Stone Hill, Brant Point and a few little spots in between with them and their families. It was so fun to take our time and get to know the whole wedding party along the way! And pretty darn amazing to have all this time for photos!!!!
Cheers to you Molly and Travis! We hope that the rest of your lives together are just as amazing as your wedding day was.
Jeff and Julia’s Nantucket Yacht Club wedding is currently featured in WellWed Cape & Islands Magazine!
We loved working with their sweet family and are thrilled to share it with you! Their garden-style wedding was held at the Nantucket Yacht Club overlooking the harbor and their reception, in the ballroom, glowed with candlelight that flickered throughout the room off the silver linens from Placesetters, Inc. and the mirrored vases full of lush blooms. Soirée Floral designed the florals for their big day with a palette in shades of whites and peach with a hint of green and pink. A pop of blue was threaded throughout their wedding with the soft shade of the girl’s bridesmaids dresses, on their menus and their table numbers, custom made by the design team at Soirée Floral.
Below is the feature from the magazine and a few of our favorite shots from their wedding. You can pick up a copy of the magazine at your local newsstand or order it online here.
Nantucket boasts some pretty spectacular scenery for weddings but nothing compares to Brooke’s family home, the setting for her wedding day. Down a long dirt road lined with tall grasses you slowly enter into a courtyard of crushed shells. When her Mom quietly asked if I would be taking photos in the rose garden I had to contain myself, of course!!!! How could I not! But aside from this gorgeous home making for an amazing day both Brooke, Chris and all their family showed us what a true celebration is meant to be.
We’re always on the look out for great blogs and magazines, especially ones that go hand in hand with our classic photography style… and then we found Classic Bride Blog. If you haven’t heard of it, you must check it out! The blog owner, Sarah, is all about classic weddings and wedding inspiration that will never go out of style – which is exactly what we’re all about!
This all-white wedding was such a joy to photograph and was a great way to end our Nantucket wedding season last year. You would have never believed it was October if you weren’t looking at the calendar – it was such an gorgeous day.
If you haven’t been reading Matchbook’s monthly online magazine – here’s an excuse to start getting them delivered to your inbox! Based in New York City, Matchbook Magazine is “a field guide to a charmed life,” and they keep their word. Matchbook is all about inspiring women – in business and in life. A big part of what they do is feature successful women in business, from fashion to home design to stationery – like this month’s cover story, Kacy Lubell the creator and designer of Letters Lubell!
Aside from the cover stories, our favorite monthly features include their “10 Things You Didn’t Know” which gives you an inside look at some of the most iconic people and celebrities of our time, the “Just Married” section (of course!), and their team’s style boards. This month we can’t help but dream of Nantucket beach days wearing pieces from Katie Armour’s (Co-Founder of Matchbook) Bohemian Rhapsody board.
In their April issue, online now, our sweet bride and groom are featured in the “Just Married” section! Their intimate wedding took place dockside at the White Elephant Hotel this past May. Soirée Floral designed their florals for the day, drawing from soft seaside colors with pops of purple to complete their look.
We’re so honored to be featured in one of our favorite online magazines – we hope we’ve added Matchbook to your list of favorites, too!
Nantucket is a VERY special place for Erin and Steve and it showed in every detail of their amazing wedding weekend! When chatting about where these two wanted their wedding day portraits to take place Erin had a list as long as my arm of amazing picturesque locations that all had a special place in her heart. It was clear these two were meant to get married on island! There was so much energy and excitement throughout their weekend of events and it was so easy to see why these two have such amazing friends and family to celebrate with. Erin and Steve I thank you for having me there to capture all those new memories you made on island!
