Year after year it seems Summer comes and goes so quickly! As a Maine wedding photographer I live for the Summer months. The rocky coastline is just a breathtaking backdrop for photos and meeting so many families that hold this place that I call home so close to their hearts is just the best! Megan and Josh got married last August and with the first few snow falls of the season I can’t help but reminisce about this warm, love filled day! The Breakwater Inn was the perfect place to celebrate with the gorgeous view of the river and plenty of space for their beautiful tent…oh! and how about those nearby fireworks at the end of the night?! It doesn’t get much better than this. Although we’re in for a long Winter ahead, I’ll take any chance I can get to bring myself back to these sunshine filled, dreamy days while I wait for next season.
When your family and friends travel from all over the globe to celebrate with you it’s something very, very special. When I asked Emily and Erik what they were most looking forward to on their wedding day they said being surrounded by and celebrating with their family and friends. Every detail of this day was planned out with love and affection for not just the bride and groom but everyone in attendance. You could feel the joy fill the little chapel in Sconset and the energy and excitement was apparent in each toast and of course on the dance floor! Emily and Erik, we hope all your days are filled with the same joy and love and that your travels always bring you back to Nantucket! Cheers! or shall we say Cin Cin!!!!
Before Julianne and Sam’s wedding day I had never been to Shady Lane Farm. By the end of their wedding day, I wanted to live there! I love photographing weddings at new locations. It offers up the opportunity for new ideas, new scenery and with clients like these two, lots of creativity. Julianne is an artist and we talked a lot about the importance of the visual record of her day, her photographs are important to her. We get that!
Their talented team of creatives put together a wonderful experience for the happy couples family and friends. A true Maine Summer celebration! Ceremony held in the field, cocktails at the outside bar, lawn games, S’mores by moonlight and dinner and dancing under the lights in the barn! It was magic! But what had me smiling all day long was the ever clear love these two have for each other. The way in which they quietly held each others hand throughout the day was the real magic. Cheers to you both and many, many years of hand holding ahead!!
Last spring we teamed up with some of our amazing “friendors” (vendor friends) and work together to bring this elegant bohemian inspiration to life at the Colony Hotel in Kennebunkport, ME. We are excited to share a few of the images that grace the current pages of Seacoast Weddings!
Inspired by a specific room in the Colony Hotel, Kate Martin of Beautiful Days created a table with details and colors inspired by the elegant details found within the room. Ellen’s beautiful, one of a kind stationary perfectly accented the tables and complimented the vision with its colors and free flowing design. The hair and make-up dream team of Lena from Hair that Moves and Joanne from Joya Beauty created a natural free-feeling beauty that worked perfectly with the stunning dresses from Bella Bridal Shop. Wild Orchid Baking created a dramatic cake which utilized the beautiful pattern found on the wallpaper and linens as well as golden accents that could be found throughout all the elements in the shoot. As usual it was a blast to be able to work alongside Meg Simone to document the great ideas that came together with this team. Be sure to check out Meg’s amazing behind the scenes footage of the shoot found below!
We couldn’t be more excited for Holly and Beau and their spectacular York, Maine wedding day. It really couldn’t have been anymore beautiful as Holly walked across the lawn with her Dad to see her soon to be husband for the first time. Everyone was smiling ear to ear as they were pronounced husband and wife. We took full advantage of the picturesque location for some fun portraits of the newlyweds around York and then joined guests inside at the Meeting House for dinner and dancing. Cheers to Holly and Beau!
It’s time to start thinking about your Maine wedding plans and one of my favorite local publications Maine. has just come out with their 2012 wedding issue! When asked, we jumped at the chance to collaborate with this creative group of wedding pro’s to create a featured inspiration shoot for the issue. With a team that included attire from Madeleine’s Daughter, Design and flowers from Beautiful Days, custom paper from Gus & Ruby Letterpress and the most mouth watering sweets from Aurora Provisions how could anyone go wrong!!!! And what better location than Portland’s own waterfront venue The Portland Company, not your average waterfront spot!
Inspired by a 40’s pinup style our favorite hair and make-up team of Joya Beauty and Hair that Moves created glamor with our models. There is so much more to see from this shoot so be sure to check out the film from Meg Simone that shows off behind the scenes action and scoop from the team on how we put together all these design details.
