It seems like Spring has come early here in New England, honestly if we can’t have snow I would rather it be warm and sunny! We’ve already logged several beach walks and it’s only March! ¬†We can’t wait for all that Summer in New England brings including family beach portraits! I can’t think of a better way to honor your family time together. This sweet family was visiting from California for an East Coast wedding and took some time to relax in Kennebunkport and celebrate their little guy’s first birthday. We met at Parson’s Beach (a favorite spot year round) for a quick session. How cute is he?!?! When planning for your Summer get togethers a family portrait session should always be on the list!

It’s family beach portrait season here in our York, Maine office and we have been out on the beach every night this week! (not a bad gig!)

Here’s a little sample of what we’ve been up to!

One of the most wonderful parts of my job is that I get to see families grow. Engagement sessions, wedding photography, maternity portraits and then onto baby and family portraits. How cool is that!!! Margo and Kirk are one of those couples that I have been photographing for years. You can see their wedding photos on the walls of my studio with their adorable dog Charlie and you may remember them from a blog post of their first born Oliver’s portrait. When I met up with them this fall for their annual holiday card shoot I knew they were expecting baby number two and was so excited to hear from Margo when he arrived! Things are pretty busy with two young boys in the house so for this session I focused on capturing this moment in their family history. Big brother getting to know little brother, family playfulness and of course all that yummy newborn goodness!

Babies change so quickly! Lately I have been watching my friends babies grow at what seems to be an alarming rate. The changes that occur from their newborn days till just a few short weeks later are dramatic to say the least. That is why I love it when my clients book more than one portrait session for their babies first year!

Meet baby Oliver. We had his very first portrait session just a couple of weeks after his arrival and then again when he was just over 7 months old. It’s so fun to compare the two sessions and see the changes and similarities. Those big blue eyes have that same curious look in both sessions but there is no way Dad could hold his little man’s head in one hand as he did for his newborn portraits. Reaching and grabbing for leaves with his chunky little fingers is such a contrast to him swaddled snugly on the bed. It seems like everyday holds some sort of milestone in a babies first year!
